* Historical note on the above article: the vast majority of modern Ashkenazi Jews in America, Israel, Russia, and elsewhere descend from communities such as these with recent origins in Eastern Europe; these Jewish communities have a long history of hyper-ethnocentrism/xenophobia and fanaticism just like the Satmar Dynasty of Kiryas Joel (New York) which is described in this particular article. It is obvious that many of the Jewish cultural traits described in this article still remain within Ashkenazi Jews to a very large degree and continue to influence their behavior and attitudes toward the non-Jewish people they currently live amongst even though many of them are now entirely secular.
